Jiquilisco Bay is one of the richest marine eco-systems throughout Central America: the mangroves. This is a system of canals and islands where the “mangle” grows and play its role on the wetlands. Habitat for crocodiles, migratory and resident marine birds, crustaceans, turtles and even spider monkeys, this Protected Area is one of the natural jewels of El Salvador.
The largest mangrove system in the country and RAMSAR site. Here you can explore the canals on a kayak or motorboat watching traditional fishermen, birds or an occasional crocodile. Visit Punta San Juan, a peninsula where the estuary meets the ocean and one of the most secluded beaches. Or visit La Pirraya, a community of fishermen that happens to be one of the best Beach Soccer teams in the world.

Do not want to miss the spider monkeys sanctuary or the cacao fields, base of some of the finest chocolates in the world (boat ride not included).

Puerto Barillas Marina Club is the best place from which to explore the Jiquilisco Bay. It has modern facilities, swimming pool, pier, restaurant, massage service and convenience store. This is also the starting point for all water sports and activities, visits to cacao fields, the crocodile pond and monkey sanctuary.

At the end of the day you can relax with a massage or a coconut ice cream by the swimming pool.

Tour includes lunch and use of the marina facilities: swimming pool and common areas.  Choose your favorite activities and spend an unforgettable day.

Optional activities: kayaking or canoeing, boat rides and visits to the spider monkeys sanctuary, fishermen villages and deserted islands.
