The Great Sentinel of the Eastern region: San Miguel volcano (Chaparrastique). This impressive strato-volcano registered the last eruption in El Salvador on 2013. Since then it has been smoking and under constant monitoring by the vulcanologist.

This is a challenging hike due the steep slope, specially the last section, near the crater, with very loose soil. From the rim you can still see smoke coming from the bottom.
