The largest and most diverse Protected Area in El Salvador. This National park is home of thousands of species, some endemic flora, migratory birds and source of eight rivers that sustain life in the mangroves below.
Follow the trail crossing the dense tropical forest, under the shade of old trees. After a couple of miradores and some steep sections we reach the bottom of the valley where a swim in the crystal clear waters of Los Enganches or Piedra Sellada rivers is your best reward. Jump into the ponds and re-charge your energy for the walk up the hill. If you want to go off the beaten track, the hike to Cerro León is another great option.
Keep your senses alert for some wildlife watching. May be from leaf-cutters ants to wild cats, armadillos, anteaters or the majestic King Vulture, one of the largest birds in El Salvador, rare and endangered species.
